I forgot to mention, in DC the weather was quite hot and humid, and on the Sunday night the hostel put on a free BBQ which was lots of fun. Going back to Canada brought a noticeable drop in temperature.
I spent two days and two nights on the bus on the way to Winnipeg, so was very relieved to arrive at my destination. I was only in Winnipeg till the next morning, so I was up bright and early to make the most of the time I did have. I went for a walk around the Exchange District, characterised by historic buildings, and to The Forks, a park that is a national historic site.
Here is the new Canadian Museum of Human Rights under construction. The other side is stone, rather than glass, and I really liked the long stairway up to the front doors.
This is the Esplanade Riel Pedestrian Bridge.
The Forks Market was closed because it was too early, but I was able to walk through it and it was very lovely and quaint. I would recommend a visit if anyone is going to Winnipeg.
I have seen many beautiful sunsets and rises from bus windows on this trip, here is one I tried to capture.
